This is the start of the Miniapples OSX Tips file- A compilation of tips from high powered Mac publications along with some user experience. (MW= MacWorld; MA= MacAddict)

OSX is wonderful, but certain aspects of it can be fustrating for a novice user. Because OSX is based on Unix, file OWNERSHIP is the new reality. If you only read one tip below, make sure it is the Privileges and Ownership Section. If you convert your computer from OS9 to OSX, you may find that all of the previously created files have ownership issues. They are not hard to deal with but as an OSX novice, you may get fustrated. In fact, my motivation for compiling these tips to help novice users avoid some of the fustration I've run into.- Dave Peck
